Canada Goose launches a new sustainable impact strategy

Canada Goose launches a sustainable impact strategy and is committed to carbon reduction by 2025 and also includes commitments to the Responsible Down Standard and the elimination of disposable plastics.

Today, Canada Goose launched its Sustainable Impact Strategy outlined in the first Sustainability Report. Driven by its long-standing commitment to keeping the planet cold and people warm, the short-term strategy includes tangible commitments in support of the four United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to ensure a sustainable future for future generations.

Canada Goose outlines key commitments:

– Carbon Reduction: Zero direct and indirect net greenhouse gas emissions (Goals 1 and 2) by 2025, through aggressive and tangible action plans that aim to reduce emissions by more than 80% below current levels.

– Responsible Down Standard (RDS): In 2019, in collaboration with Textile Exchange, the company completed a 100% third-party compliance audit of its manufacturing facilities and is committed to becoming 100% RDS certified by 2021.

– Bluesign: A commitment to achieve 90% of Canada Goose fabrics with bluesign approval for responsible and sustainable practices by 2025, increasing usage by 32% in 2019.

– Plastic-Free: Beginning elimination of disposable plastic in all facilities owned or controlled by Canada Goose.

“We have always believed in building a profitable business for our team, the communities we belong to and the planet, for generations to come,” said Dani Reiss, President and CEO of Canada Goose. “No matter how much we’ve done over the past 60 years, we have to do more, the world can’t wait. Our aggressive commitments outlined in our first Sustainability Report are the steps we are taking to transform the way we do business and make sure we do everything we can to create the future we want to see.”
