Chianti Ultra Trail starting list: it’s a record!

Two thousand athletes from all over the world who will gather in Radda in Chianti, from 24 to 26 March, to run along the white roads of the historic Chianti, between the rows of vines, the hills, the villages and the castles of one of the most fascinating areas in Italy.

There will be so many runners ready to challenge each other in the fifth edition of Chianti Ultra Trail, scheduled from 24 to 26 March in the heart of the historic Chianti. An event that year after year climbs the ranking of the most loved trails in the world and that in 2023 will see the record of entries with two thousand athletes at the start, a number beyond expectations that forced the organizers to decree the sold out.

It will be Chianti and its rolling hills, it will be the routes that touch unique places and often closed to tourists, it will be the “red wine” par excellence, which fills the glasses and accompanies athletes and the public throughout the weekend, but this concentration of ingredients has made Chianti Ultra Trail an unmissable event in the enthusiasts’ calendar. Five races between taste and effort over as many distances: Chianti Castles (100 km with 4000 m D+), Chianti Ultra Trail (73 km with 2800 m D+), Chianti Marathon Trail (42 km and 1400 m D+), Chianti Trail (20 km and 800 m D+) and the Walk&Run (15 km with 600 m D). Almost the entire route develops on unpaved paths, some of which are private, thus offering participants the opportunity to enjoy exclusive views among the expanses of vineyards, the wood of Monte San Michele, the highest point of the route, and through the historical villages.

The success of this appointment has not only conquered trail running lovers but the whole sector, starting from the increasingly numerous partners who accompany the event year after year: among these New Balance, i-eXe, Garmin, Enervit and Travelsana , main sponsor of the 2023 edition, but also many local realities such as Nencini Sport and Ross Hotel.

The Chianti Walk & Taste, the 8 km guided food and wine walk between parishes and castles, is back again in this edition, as is Ultra Wine, the calendar of events in collaboration with Casa Chianti Classico which includes visits with tastings to the historic cellars , sensorial and museum itineraries, introductions to the art of the sommelier, open-air buffet dinners, all by reservation.
