The Canadian guy is been protagonist of many contest and legendary video parts filmed across BC. Recently Dustin has been taking part in the Natural Selection Tour, and crushing it. After qualifying in Jackson Hole earlier this season and with the Baldface stop completed, all eye are on Alaska where there will be the final leg of the tour.

Jf Pelchat, Now founder, comments: ”I’m super stoked to have Dustin join the NOW team. He’s the real deal and with a background in pipe riding, he has amazing board skills/control which allows him to ride and adapt to any type of terrain or features. Dustin has been crushing it for a long time and we are very happy to help him continue to push the boundaries and be a boss in the Backcountry. Welcome to the team!

To get to know Dustin Craven better, the Now team asked him few questions.

Where did you grow up and started snowboarding?
I grew up in Calgary Alberta and started snowboarding at COP (Calgary Olympic Park) in the city, I would spend 6 days a week riding park.

You moved from Whistler to Revelstoke, where you pretty much have the whole place to your self, how’s that been for you?
It really nice being somewhere with less people around, and there’s definitely local crews that hit the main spots. I have really enjoyed finding new terrain people have not seen before.

You’ve been taking part in Natural Selection for the past two seasons, how do you adapt from riding with a film crew by yourselves in the backcountry in a somewhat controlled environment versus competing against the best of the best in front of the whole snowboard world?
I come from a heavy competition background until about 2009, so it’s pretty easy to switch back into a competitive person. I think filming just helps to be more comfortable with riding natural and man made terrain at NST. The stresses of the contest come thinking about it before hand and trying to come up with a game plan. Once I’m actually snowboarding in the event it feels like any other day filming.

You’re just about to head to AK for the final leg of the contest, what do you think will be the most challenging aspect of that venue?
I think weather and snow have been a hard issue this season, I’m hoping that AK is good to go and the riders only have to focus on sending it and not worry if the snow in the landings might be bad.

What will you throw down to come home with the NST title?
My whole approach this season is just to try as hard as I can every run I get and that seems to be working out.

What are you currently working on aside from NST? Film projects?
I’m working on a video section with my Interior BC crew to be in Craig McMorris’s video coming out next year.

What do you hope to do with your riding in the next few seasons? Any specific goals?
Every season starts to feel like a gift as I get older so I’m just focusing on not getting hurt and pushing my snowboarding as hard as I can while I can.

We’re super stoked you’re joining NOW; what made you jump ship, and what does riding for a company like NOW who’s owned by JF mean to you?
I’ve always been a big fan of JF and his involvement in the snowboard industry. I’m excited to work with the company and see how far we can take it.

Lastly, where can we see your latest film?

“Overall the bindings are super comfy and easy to use, I really like how little you feel the bindings come off the board on the heel edge and the response torsionally is pretty incredible. I can’t wait to try the different bushings densities and the quick board swapping tech now that I’m on a set of Select Pro bindings.”
