Mountain culture and major events: Trentino confirms itself as the capital of outdoor and high-altitude cinema.
While the 74th edition of the historic international Film Festival opens in Trento, the bouldering scene heats up in Val Masino with La Sportiva’s new partnership at Melloblocco 2026. The connection between people, nature, sport, and culture finds its ultimate territorial expression at the start of this spring. Trentino and its surrounding peaks once again become the international epicenter of two major events that, though using different languages, celebrate the most authentic spirit of the High Lands: the Trento Film Festival and the legendary outdoor gathering Melloblocco.
Ten days walking through cinema trails in Trento. The 74th edition of the Trento Film Festival has officially begun, the historic international festival that will transform the capital into a vibrant crossroads of sounds, images, and reflections connected to mountain culture. The event, led by President Mauro Leveghi and Director Luana Bisesti, has its roots in a “natural vocation for dialogue” born back in 1952, just a few years after the end of World War II, as a moment of peaceful encounter between peoples through the screen.
This year the festival doesn’t just celebrate the past—also marking twenty years since the approval of the International Alliance for Mountain Film Statute—but rigorously addresses the major challenges of our time, starting with integral ecology and the fight against climate denialism. The program promises to be rich and widely distributed across the city’s iconic venues:
Teatro Sociale and the Evening Events: An exceptional stage for great intergenerational mountaineering stories—with names like François Cazzanelli, Marco Majori, and the grand return of Mauro Corona with his daughter Marianna—but also to celebrate the history of cycling on Monte Bondone with legends like Francesco Moser and Gilberto Simoni.
Exhibitions and display routes: There are 12 exhibitions throughout the city, including the solo show by artist Manuele Fior at Palazzo Thun (Concrete Drawings) and the focus Destination… South Korea at Palazzo Benvenuti.
Urban spaces and new generations: Piazza Duomo will once again host the MontagnaLibri pavilion (celebrating 40 years), while Piazza Fiera will remain the heart of T4Future, the section dedicated to young climbers and tomorrow’s citizens.
A festival that combines the quality of film screenings with a strong ecological footprint, confirmed by its commitment to maintaining the rigorous EcoEventi Trentino sustainability certification. The spirit of bouldering is reborn in Val Masino with Melloblocco 2026
Moving from cinema halls to natural granite blocks, the international climbing world prepares for another iconic event. From May 6 to 9, Val Masino and Val di Mello will host a new edition of Melloblocco, Europe’s most famous bouldering gathering. Actively supporting the event as Main Sponsor is once again a local industrial excellence: La Sportiva, the Ziano di Fiemme company that’s a world leader in footwear and apparel for mountain sports.
The partnership between the Trentino brand and the organizing committee is built on a historic bond and a shared ethical vision: promoting outdoor climbing that puts the community and absolute respect for the surrounding environment at its center.
The 2026 edition sponsored by La Sportiva will offer a rich program of events designed to actively engage participants:
The Madness Café: Conceived as the nerve center of the gathering, it will be an informal space where enthusiasts can relax and interact directly with elite athletes from the international team.
Celebrating the territory: Activities like Once Upon a Time in Mello and Tickmarks will guide climbers to discover local stories, raising awareness toward a responsible and sustainable approach to the rock.
Whether sitting in cinema seats in Trento or gripping granite cracks in Val di Mello, the message coming from the mountains this spring is clear: outdoor culture is alive, dynamic, and increasingly committed to protecting the planet.
