In Ziano di Fiemme, they aren’t just announcing new athletes; they’re choosing partners capable of influencing the future of the product. Sam Anthamatten joining the La Sportiva ski touring team is exactly that: a clear signal of how the brand wants to raise the bar in the free-touring segment. Born in 1986, originally from Zermatt and raised in the shadow of the Matterhorn, Anthamatten is more than just an athlete—he’s one of the most versatile and respected mountain guides on the international scene, moving effortlessly between the walls of Yosemite and the steepest slopes of the Freeride World Tour.

His strength lies in his ability to bridge different worlds. Those who know him understand that his approach to the mountains is never compartmentalized: for him, technical alpinism, ski mountaineering, and freeride are shades of the same language. This versatility is why the collaboration with the brand feels so natural. Both share a vision of ski mountaineering as pure competence, where safety and equipment choice are the pillars that allow you to push further when mountain conditions and the human factor align perfectly.

One of the most interesting aspects of this collaboration is the role Sam will play off the glaciers. In addition to representing the brand during his expeditions, Anthamatten will actively collaborate with the R&D department in Ziano di Fiemme. His feedback, born from real and relentless use in alpine environments, will be essential for perfecting the free-touring line. In a sector where innovation must meet brutal demands for lightness and reliability, having the insight of a mountain guide of his caliber means accelerating the evolution of gear that has to perform in the toughest conditions.

For La Sportiva, this consolidates a strategic path aimed at dominating the high-performance ski mountaineering market. This isn’t just marketing, but a direct dialogue between the athlete and those designing what we’ll use next winter. Sam brings with him the culture of someone who lives the mountains daily, transforming respect for the environment and field experience into concrete technical solutions.
