Brunello Crossing is always organized by ASD Montalcino Trail with the support of the Municipal Administration and the Consortium of Brunello di Montalcino, an event that arises from the desire to add further value, that of a sporting event capable of attracting athletes from all over the world , to an area renowned for its beauty and uniqueness.

THE RACES
The team that wins does not change and so, as per tradition, three competitive distances start: Banfi Trophy (45km with 1820m D+), Ciacci Piccolomini D’Aragona Trophy (24km with 1050m D+) and Barbi Trophy (14km with 634m D+).

THE TERRITORY
Montalcino is a municipality about 40 km from Siena, bordered by the Asso, Ombrone and Orcia valleys, the latter celebrated by the painters of the Sienese Renaissance School and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Breathtaking landscapes and white roads, flat lands hills and mountains transform this area into a paradise for lovers of sports in nature, as demonstrated by the ever more frequent initiatives of international caliber such as “Eroica” and “Eroica Montalcino”. Alongside the geomorphological conformation, Montalcino offers food and wine traditions renowned throughout the world, which make the Brunello Crossing an opportunity to combine a weekend of sport with a dip into the local culture.

SENSORY EXPERIENCES
Not only sport but also a weekend dedicated to getting to know and appreciate the area, from its nature to its food and wine traditions. This is why the Brunello Crossing staff offers “Visit the cellars”, sensory experiences made up of the smells of local products such as saffron, honey and cheeses from the local supply chain.

Four possibilities: “Visits in the cellar with tasting”, a path to learn about the production, agronomic and oenological processes and taste the wines of different vintages, accompanying them with typical local products. “Cellar visits with light lunch” and “Cellar visits with tasting lunch”, a guided tour of the cellar that ends with a light lunch and a full lunch, accompanied by the legendary Rosso and Brunello di Montalcino. Finally “Visits to the laboratory and saffron tasting”, the red gold of Montalcino and Val d’Orcia, a precious spice rich in beneficial properties of which you will learn about its characteristics, production potential and use. DECANTER
An exciting novelty of this edition, destined to become a tradition, is the awarding of a recognition to the athletes who have participated in all previous editions, regardless of the distance completed. The organizers of Brunello Crossing will present all the “Senators” with a Vinocchio Decanter, an elegant container dedicated to decanting wine. Thanks to its particular shape, it performs a dual function, allowing young wines to oxygenate and enhance the aromatic bouquet and aged ones to separate the sediments.
