4° Lagazuoi Winning Ideas Mountain Awards

By: Lisa Misconel

A contest for ideas that can make a difference: future and innovation in mountain equipment, gastronomy and services within Lagazuoi Expo Dolomiti

In a microcosm like the mountains, it is important and will become essential to regulate the relationship between humans and the environment to make it more and more sustainable and virtuous for both parties. In this challenge innovation is the key, and for it to fulfill its function, it must be given a voice and visibility.

This is what the Lagazuoi Winning Ideas Mountain Awards does. It consists of a curatorial project conceived by engineer Stefano Illing in 2019 that is now in its 4th edition with the aim of promoting innovation and virtuous interaction between humans and the environment in the mountains.

How, where and when?

In this 4th edition, WIMA will be looking for projects within the following categories:

Mountain Equipment and Clothing;

Mountain Food and Wine Productions; with a focus on product and process innovation, and combating waste

Mountain Services and Apps; innovative solutions in the digital sphere, employing augmented reality, apps and social to experience and deal with mountains in different ways

It’s this last category, that The Pill editorial team is happy to accompany as talent scouts. We will be in charge of identifying and reporting projects that we believe are relevant and meritorious, and therefore our eyes and ears have been well attentive for some time now!

In the same time, the chance to apply spontaneously will still continue. It will be possible to apply until February 5, 2023, date in which a jury of six experts headed by the creator Illing will select a winning project for each category and award a special mention for the most deserving startup.

The breathtaking setting for the entire project is the Lagazuoi EXPO Dolomiti, a museum and exhibition space located at an altitude of 2,732 meters above Cortina d’Ampezzo. It is here that the winning projects will be featured in an exhibition that will be inaugurated in April 2023 and be open to the public from May 2023 to April 2024.

In this context, which couldn’t be more relevant, it will be possible to discover realities and projects of companies and mountain lovers who believe in and invest their ideas and forces for a smart and sustainable future for the benefit of our mountains and those of us who love them.
