Prowinter, January 11 and 12 2023: some previews from Brand Manager Geraldine Coccagna

 With: Prowinter

We are very close to the first of two Prowinter appointments, hosted at Fiera Bolzano. The double event, in January and April, is just one of the many new features of the 2023 edition. We asked Geraldine Coccagna, Prowinter’s Brand Manager, a few questions to get a glimpse of how this year’s novelties unfold and to find out a few sneak peeks.

The first big news about Prowinter 2023 is that the appointment has been doubled. What is the reason for this change?
“Last year’s edition, although already revisited and transformed into the appointment of Prowinter Season Finale, was a wonderful opportunity to discuss the peculiarities of the moment that the mountain world was going through. Prowinter Season Finale 2022 and the customary moment of confrontation of the Ski Rental Summit offered a ground for dialogue that allowed all those involved in the industry to discuss the renewed demands imposed by changes in the production chain. Future possibilities, strategies and challenges were discussed, all of which set the stage for the renewal of the 2023 edition. By updating the dates and format of our event based on the renewed needs of the market, it was possible to reconfirm Prowinter’s role as a reference moment for winter sports. Our mission, after all, has been clear for more than two decades: we aim to create a common platform where all players in the snow industry can meet. The January event will be a unique opportunity for manufacturers to showcase their collection in a timely manner. At the same time, we did not want to give up the opportunity to also spend leisure moments together with colleagues in the industry, which is why the end-of-season party will return in April.”

What goals has Prowinter been able to achieve over the years? And what do you plan to pursue in the future?
“Among our greatest satisfactions is certainly that we have managed to generate a positive atmosphere that can give new impetus to the winter sports sector. In the future, we will continue to focus on fostering dialogue among all market players and creating new growth potential together. Feedback from participants in recent years has always been very positive, with many saying that they recognize the event as very important, and their attendance is rewarded by the opportunity to gain insights and ideas that help improve their business. Their enthusiasm confirms that Prowinter has succeeded in creating fertile ground for more and more cooperation among those in the industry. This year’s novelty, Prowinter Award “Retail,” stems from the desire to reward companies by bringing the product to the center of our fair.”

How come you titled this Prowinter Award competition “Retail”?
“Our initiative has always had a special focus on the rental world, to which we recognize an enormous importance in the mountain sports tourism sector. By choosing to place the exhibition event in January, however, Prowinter also serves as a point of reference for retailers who can take the opportunity to evaluate the new collections and offerings of the various manufacturers. The rental and retail worlds have always been deeply connected to each other, and it is tough to impose a clear separation in the target audience of a trade show that has much to offer both spheres. The numerous nominations for our Award were a great confirmation of this: more than twenty manufacturers chose to rely on our expert judges to highlight their best new skis and boots. This shows that Prowinter has all the makings of a great showcase for products from the world of snow and is a perfect opportunity to coordinate the various market sectors.”
