Seresupertramp, the worth of sharing

Serena is an Italian hiking guide who lives in the French Hautes-Alpes. She shares her outdoors experiences on Instagram as a content creator and blogger. She likes to venture into the environment that surrounds her, creating a bond with the mountains and discovering always new places independently.

You are a photographer and filmmaker, what does this job mean to you?
To me being a photographer and a filmmaker means creating a link with the environment, nature and the mountains. Consequently, I like to communicate this link on my Instagram profile and  share every experience with the community that follows me.

Why did you decide to shoot nature and the outdoors in general?
Mainly it all started with my lifelong passion for the mountains, the outdoors and adventure. I started traveling alone in a tent, sharing my experiences on my socials, giving birth to my community that is able to grasp what I really value in my content: emotions.

What kind of photography does inspire you?
I was born as a content creator and as a blogger, so I give great importance to experience and to photos that are able to tell a story, a feeling. I certainly like to enrich my profile with quality content but first of all I would like to give priority to emotions, precisely for this reason, I often find myself simply filming with the phone or with an action camera, in order to be free to climb or ski while I shoot.

What are your favorite outdoor sports and why?
I was born as an adventure lover, so I learned to live the mountains in my own way because no one taught me. This led me to attend climbing and ski mountaineering courses, reaching the point of being free to go around the mountains as I wish and in total safety. If I had to indicate my favorite outdoor sport I would not be able to choose one, because every sport makes me feel alive and when I feel alive I have already won!

What does it mean and how does it feel to be in contact with nature?
Nature is able to bring the best out of me, it is the only place where I have always felt myself and where I have been able to remove all types of filters. It gives me a parallel life compared to the one I live in the valley, in fact I always say one thing: I “work” well up in the mountains while downhill I’m a troublemaker.

We had many opportunities to travel and discover new places because of the pandemic. What has it taught you?
The pandemic has taught me to value even those adventures that start by opening the door and looking outside, rediscovering places that we have in front of our eyes every day and to which we do not give the right importance. I also experienced one of the worst moment of my life: I have not been able to see my family for six months and I had a health problem that aggravated the situation on a psychological level. I have learned to be more patient and to forgive, what it means to be responsible for ourselves and for those we love.

What’s the most incredible place you’ve shot so far?
I think what is suggestive is the petal of a flower, as well as the summit of a mountain: you will always find me somewhere taking new pictures. Among all the places I visited, maybe I would mention New Zealand, the Great Wall of China, the Azores Islands and many other places. Everything that creates an emotion is suggestive.

What does the word outdoor mean to you?
It means giving a sense to a feeling that each one of us has, being able to experience personal emotions, which you can also share with other people. Personally I have been harboring this feeling for years, it is a subtle and invisible bond that can only be seen by experienced eyes.

What’s your biggest dream?
It’s not a material dream: I hope I will be able to smile every day, to stay curious, longing for discovery, and with adventure in my soul.

Tell us about your most incredible trip.
Surely the trip I remember with the greatest happiness was the one I did in the Azores islands in 2018. I left carrying only my tent and my backpack with the essentials inside and I walked around all the islands for a month. I had the chance and luck to climb the highest mountain in Portugal – Pico Mountain – and it was indescribable, beautiful.

What will you be doing tomorrow, meaning in the coming months and years?
My goal is definitely to spend as much time as possible in the mountains, because it’s part of my job both on Instagram and as a hiking guide. I see myself in the future accompanying a lot of enthusiasts like me to discover mountain experiences.
