The North Face x Urban Wall

Last Wednesday, September 21st, the climbing gym Urban Wall, which is based in Pero, near Milan, saw many enthusiasts gather to climb together, challenge each other in the boulder and lead marathons and, above all, test the new Urban Tower structure thanks to the event organized by The North Face.

The US brand, in fact, from July 1st 2022 has joined the ranks of the structure’s partners: Urban Wall has become the first Italian climbing gym chosen by The North Face for a collaboration of this type and the two have joined forces to create a unique appointment, in the presence of The North Face athlete Stefano Ghisolfi.

The event began at 4.00pm with a large turnout of boulderers and climbers who juggled volumes and new holds trying to climb as many routes and as many boulders as possible. The super marathon ended with dj set, beers and sandwiches offered to all participants, just to recharge themselves before the evening with Stefano and the Red Line Contest.

At 9.00pm Stefano Ghisolfi inaugurated The North Face “Speaker Series”, telling us curiosities and anecdotes about his last trip to Norway, in Flatanger, where he climbed and tried some of the hardest routes in the world, including Silence, the first 9c route ever climbed, opened by Adam Ondra in 2017 and never replicated ever since.

Stefano told us about his journey on the rock through various anecdotes and some videos that showed the initial efforts and the meticulous strategy with which the climber decided to face the challenge. After a moment of confrontation with numerous questions about the world of climbing asked by the participants, the evening ended with the inauguration of the newcomer at Urban Wall, the Urban Tower where the Red Line Contest took place. The climbers were able to challenge each others on the routes traced by Stefano himself, trying to reach the highest possible hold. The evening finally ended with music, beers and laughter around 11.30pm with the awarding of the winners of the Contest.
