Ferrino: on the trail of the glaciers, Alpi 2020 expedition

The Alpi 2020 team, directed to Courmayeur, will present at 6.30 pm the expedition at the Mountain Museum, where the exhibition of the project is in progress.

After 10 years of iconographic research and photographic-scientific work, the project On the Trails of the Glaciers finally crosses its finish line. After Karakorum 2009, Caucasus 2011, Alaska 2013, Andes 2016 and Himalaya 2018, the Alps 2020 expedition will start: the last of a ten-year journey that, combining photography, technology, field research and scientific dissemination, closes a project that has given birth to the world’s largest archive of photographic comparisons on the main glaciers of the planet to testify the state of health of the Earth.

Fabiano Ventura and his team of photographers and researchers will be present on July 24th in the space in front of the entrance of Museomontagna, where at 6:30 pm they will meet the public for a presentation of the expedition before leaving for Courmayeur, where in the following days their work will start. The event will be filmed live and visible on the Ferrino Facebook page and then on the Museum’s Facebook page and the Facebook page of the project On the Trails of the Glaciers.

To greet the team at the start there will be the direction of Museomontagna and Ferrino, technical partner of the project since its first edition and partner of the exhibition On the Trails of the Glaciers. The exhibition will be open at the Museum until August 30th with a series of photographic comparisons that analyze and detect the effects of climate change on the world’s glacial masses over the last hundred years, offering also the possibility to live in the heart of the exhibition the interactive experience On the Trail of the Glaciers.
