In the far north of Sweden, vast areas of wilderness stretch for thousands of kilometers. Entering these places means venturing into uncharted territory, with breathtaking views framed by perpetually snow-capped peaks interspersed with crystal-clear lakes. These are the landscapes that inspired Fjällräven products, born from the need to have outdoor and reliable equipment that can withstand long periods of exposure in hostile territories.

And it is precisely here that the first Fjällräven Classic took place in 2005, the trekking event born to show that anyone, equipped with the right equipment and the right preparation, is able to face a journey into the heart of the most pristine nature. The first edition brought together 152 people, mostly Swedes, called to travel with a backpack over the 110 kilometers that separate Nikkaluoktada Abisko.

Ten years after the first edition, Fjällräven Classic saw the number of members exceed 2,000. The participants come from all parts of the world and, over the years, the event has turned into something that went beyond simple trekking. Today, beginners and experienced hikers walk side by side in something that looks more like a big hiking party. Participants meet people who have the same interests as themselves, friendships are born, experiences are shared, each other is influenced and programs are made for new adventures, in groups or solo.

Anyway, the main objective remains the same as the very first edition of the event: encouraging more and more people to get closer to nature, offer inspiration, knowledge and sharing.

In recent years the event has been a huge success, convincing Fjällräven to export the initiative to other countries as well. As of this year, in addition to Hong Kong, Colorado (USA) and Denmark, four new destinations of Fjällräven Classic have been announced: Germany, China, Great Britain and North Korea. Selected for the beauty of their landscapes and for the rich presence of hiking paths, the new locations extend to even more people the opportunity to take part in this incredible experience.
