FVG Bike Trail: First Bikepacking Event in Friuli Venezia Giulia

Kicking off on September 19, 2024 is the first edition of FVG Bike Trail, a non-competitive bicycle touring event dedicated to adventure lovers on two wheels. At the choice of each participant, two loop routes of 490 km and 190 km through the beautiful landscapes of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Starting on September 19, 2024 from Villa Manin (UD), the first edition of FVG Bike Trail, the bikepacking event aimed at all lovers of biking and outdoor tourism, will take place. Conceived and organized by It Takes Two srl, a benefit company, with the support of PromoturismoFVG, the sponsorship of the FVG Region and in partnership with PM2, Prosciutto di San Daniele Consortium, X-Zone Bike and BCC CrediFriuli. FVG Bike Trail was created with the aim of guiding its participants through an intimate discovery of the wonders of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, combining the love of cycling with the spirit of adventure and the pleasure of travel.

Participants can choose between two loop routes of different lengths and intensities:

  • Long route: 490 km with 5,200 D+
  • Short route: 190 km with 2,000 D+

Both routes run along secondary and forest roads, passing through places such as San Daniele, Lignano, Venzone, Gemona, the Torre and Natisone Valleys, the Colli Orientali, Cividale, Palmanova and Marano Lagunare.

Event Format

FVG Bike Trail is a one-stage non-competitive event. Each participant can freely decide which route to take, when to start (September 19-21, 2024), how much to ride, and where to stop. The track of the chosen route in .gpx format will be provided by the organization shortly before the start. Starting and arrival point for both routes is Villa Manin in Passariano di Codroipo (UD).

Unsupported Philosophy

We chose the unsupported format because we believe it goes well with a region like Friuli Venezia Giulia, which is rich in routes and connections but often unknown even to its inhabitants. The philosophy of an unsupported event allows participants to pedal at their own pace, making their own arrangements for stops and overnight stays, really connecting with the local area.

Official Jersey Signed by Friulian Master Gianni Borta

Representing the strong link between FVG Bike Trail and its territory, the official jersey of the first edition of the event is signed by Friulian master Gianni Borta. This work of art, based on Sportul’s Supergiara Jersey model, will accompany participants on the roads of Friuli Venezia Giulia and will remain an iconic piece to be treasured.
