Garmont keep on supporting the Via Francigena

Also in 2023, Garmont will support theEuropean Association of Vie Francigene(AEVF), promoter of the famous 3,200-kilometer route that crosses Europe and touches more than 700 municipalities, passing 80% on rural roads.

The Via Francigena has become a form of slow tourism, a chance to breathe the open air and reconnect with nature. The number of people who walked this path in 2022 increased by 20 percent over the previous year, a side effect of lockdowns and various restrictions that forced us to rediscover the pleasure of a walk in the green.

Last year the route saw an increase in participants from over 40 countries, with a decrease in the Italian share and an increase in the international share due to the easing of travel restrictions. The main motivations for pilgrims to embark on this journey are shared experience and spiritual reasons, followed later by the tourist attractiveness of the places visited and the rediscovery of cultural heritage. Tuscany is the most popular starting point and summer the most popular month to begin this journey, both physical and inner.

Garmont, a brand of outdoor footwear, shares with AEVF the same vision of nature and trekking as a form of rediscovery of ourselves and the planet that hosts us. Walking is a simple yet functional activity that allows us to slow down from the hustle and bustle of daily life, live our experiences to the fullest, and appreciate the journey rather than the destination.
