Jonas Russi wins TOR330 – Tor des Géants

Jonas Russi, a Swiss ultra runner, took the top of the podium at TOR330 – Tor des Géants.

Courmayeur, Wednesday September 14 2022, 8:31 a.m.: this is exactly when ultra runner Jonas Russi crosses the finish line of the TOR330 – Tor des Géants. Russi arrives after 330 kilometers run in 70 hours 31 minutes and 36 seconds. He is moved but also evidently exhausted: after all, he only slept a total of 17 minutes.

The runner strongly wanted to take the title he had to give up last year, abdicating after the Champillon Refuge and giving way to Franco Collé. In the 2022 edition, he made up for it by distancing his opponents by more than five hours. Also, just a few weeks ago Russi finished UTMB in eighth place shortly after taking sixth place at the LUT in late June. An excellent season for the ultra runner.

Behind Russi there are three Italians: Simone Corsini (75:27:33), Andrea Macchi (76:43:50) and Andrea Mattiato (78:22:28). The women’s race is still to be decided but there was no shortage of surprises: between RIfugio Magià and Cuney Sabrina Verjee outran Silvia Trigueros Garrote. We’ll just have to wait to find out how it will turn out!
