NEW SUCCESSES AND A RECORD FOR KILIAN JORNET!

The Catalan champion wins the Ring of Steall Skyrace in Scotland. The Top 10 men and women are now ready for the Golden Trail Series Final in South Africa.

He arrived at the finish a bit more bruised and muddy this time, but it came once again first. The Salomon athlete Kilian Jornet has held up to another formidable lineup of opponents to put the seal on the Ring of Steall Skyrace in the Scottish Highlands, recording a record time, to crown a perfect Golden Trail Series in which he won all three races he participated.

Up and down on the soggy and slippery ground of the valleys, the Catalan led the race in front of everyone, holding back the strong Italian Nadir Maguet, detaching him by one minute and 31 seconds, ending the race with a time of 3:04: 34.

After winning both the Marathon du Mont Blanc and Sierre-Zinal, Jornet needed only to start the Ring of Steall to qualify for the Grand Trail of the Golden Trail Series at the Oster Trail in South Africa, scheduled for next month. As often happens however, Jornet has completed what started in the best way, even if it was not easy at all.

“Nadir and I pushed each other down the slopes and we ran almost the whole race together,” said Jornet, who also injured his chin during a leap in the last few kilometers. “I managed to get a little bit of advantage on the last climb and I resisted during the downhill, it was a great fight between us and Stian attacking from behind”.
