La Sportiva Lavaredo Ultra Trail: a record-breaking edition

From Friday, June 23 to Sunday, June 26 in Cortina d’Ampezzo there were four days of races, 5,000 entries, 4,285 starters and more than 70 nations.

The Sportiva Lavaredo Ultra Trail by UTMB 2022 was the only Italian event in the circuit that unites the world’s major trail events. “The numbers of this 2022 were very important: more than 10 thousand requests to participate and draw to assign the 5 thousand bibs established. 76 nations attended, confirming the increasing internationality of the event,” say Cristina Murgia and Simone Brogioni, the event organizers.

Speaking of numbers, 1,476 athletes started and 1,135 finished for the Lavaredo Ultra Trail 120 km, with a finisher rate of 76.8 percent; 891 started and 812 finished for the UltraDolomites (finisher 91.1 percent); 1,491 started and 1,427 finished for the Cortina Trail (finisher 95.7 percent); and 427 started and 410 finished for the Cortina Skyrace (finisher 96 percent).

“A big gratitude goes to the more than 600 volunteers who have collaborated on the La Sportiva Lavaredo Ultra Trail, testifying in a concrete way to the great passion they have for the territory and for this event,” say Cristina Murgia and Simone Brogioni further. “Also great is the passion of our partners: from the Municipal Administration of Cortina d’Ampezzo and all the municipalities crossed to the Mountain Rescue Service.”

Recall that the LUT was born long ago, in 2007, and represents one of the dreams of every trail runner. It takes place in one of the most striking sceneries of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites, that of Cortina d’Ampezzo (you can find the necessary background here).
