Patagonia “All Dams Pollute” live on Facebook

All dams pollute: find out more during Blue Heart’s Facebook live screening. The appointment with the film Patagonia is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22nd at 8:00 p.m.

Worldwide, dams have damaged river ecosystems, forced entire communities to abandon their land and continue to intensify the effects of climate change, diverting river flows, degrading water quality, damaging wildlife habitats and, finally, eroding the resilience of river ecosystems to the impacts of climate change.

The Balkan Peninsula is home to the last unspoilt rivers in Europe. Blue Heart documents the struggle to defend the Vjosa in Albania, Europe’s largest free and untouched river; the efforts to save the endangered Balkan lynx in Macedonia and the protest of women in Kruščica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, conducted 24/7 to protect their community’s only source of fresh water.

The voices of local communities are often overlooked, but they should be listened to with the utmost attention. Blue Heart, the Patagonia documentary, analyzes the impact of dams and how local communities are fighting to protect pristine rivers.
