Rewoolution with Edmond Joyeusaz in the conquest of Mont Blanc

Born in 1958, a mountain guide and ski instructor from Courmayeur, Edmond Joyeusaz a few weeks after the end of the lockdown, decided to challenge on skis the descent of the seracco della Poire, following the route opened in 1979 by the Piedmontese Gianni Comino and Giancarlo Grassi.

1500 meters of altitude difference, gradients between 55 and 60 degrees and a temperature of around 15 degrees: “Once you get to a certain point you can only go down, there is no side escape,” says Joyeusaz, who describes his feat as the most exciting but dangerous of his career.

For a long time Edmond had dreamed of climbing those peaks, not planned for 2020, but the health emergency has anticipated and rekindled the feeling of freedom that we have all lost for months. Unexpectedly on 25 May, Edmond Joyeusaz found himself facing a decisive challenge that proved to be the most important of his life. “Something exceptional, due to technical difficulties, exposure to dangers and overall height difference” says the historic mountain guide Renzino Cosson. The long ski descent through the seracco della Poire, on the Brenva del Monte Bianco glacier, is destined to remain in history.

Rewoolution, Reda Group’s activewear brand, has always been sensitive to environmental and sustainability issues and this is why it has chosen to support Edmond Joyeusaz with its products in this adventurous experience.
