Salewa and Red Bull together again for the Hike & Fly Red Bull X-Alps

Salewa and Red Bull are together again for the Hike & Fly Red Bull X-Alps, the competition that is the ultimate challenge for adventure enthusiasts.

Salewa is the main sponsor of the event for the fifth consecutive time and has developed a collection especially for the athletes who will participate. Salewa’s new X-Alps line is designed specifically for the combination of Speed Hiking and paragliding and offers excellent protection against extreme weather conditions.

The race will take place on June 11 and will see more than thirty athletes travel more than 1,200 kilometers across the Alps on foot and by paraglider. Chrigel Maurer, the Salewa athlete who has won the competition seven times in a row, will participate again this year along with Markus Anders, Thomas Friedrich, Simon Oberrauner, Aaron Durogati and Paul Guschlbauer. The “Salewa Trophy” will also be awarded again this year to an athlete who has distinguished himself or herself through sportsmanship and selflessness during the race.

This year’s Red Bull X-Alps route is an innovative combination of familiar stages and completely new sections. The race will see athletes face so-called turning points several times along the course. This year, for the first time since 2007, the start will be from Kitzbühel-Kirchberg, followed by a stage through the Achental valley in Chiemgau, the ascent of Piz Buin in Switzerland, the Altesch glacier-the largest in Europe-and the legendary Mont Blanc. After a short stop in northern Italy, participants will reach another spectacular spot in the race: the Innerkofler-De Luca via ferrata at Monte Paterno in the Sexten Dolomites, which will be the focus of numerous activities and events organized by Salewa in cooperation with the Sexten Tourism Association. Here they will face the last turning point and then cross the Alps to the floating water finish line in Zell am See.

In short, Salewa and Red Bull continue to invest in a passion for extreme sports and adventure, while also seeking to promote an alpine lifestyle and preserve the mountain environment in a sustainable way. The Red Bull X-Alps is definitely an exciting and spectacular experience, but it requires excellent preparation and proper equipment. Are you ready to get involved?
