Salewa Ortles Couloir, innovation for mountaineering

The new Salewa Ortles Couloir is inspired by the name of one of the highest mountains in the western sector of the Alps and is an innovative new boot designed for mountaineering.
The new boot presented by Salewa for the FW 21/22 season is fully cramponable and capable of sustaining excursions on both mixed terrain and ice, while maintaining an optimal per per, only 725 grams. Despite the reduced weight, the range of functionality and technical performance remains unchanged.
The design, which maintains clean and simple lines, features a carbon exoskeleton that descends to the ankle where it is connected to the lower part by a bilateral zip. The mobility of the foot is guaranteed in the cuff area, made of Kevlar fibres that allow the wearer full control of movements. The outer shell made of breathable nylon and silicate hides a warm and soft inner boot, also made of nylon and a thermo-insulating synthetic lining, able to guarantee comfort and protection from water and cold.
In addition, to better protect the toe area, the boot has an additional insulating layer that works in synergy with the Salewa Responsive footbed.
The Vibram sole, made with Litebase technology, ensures strength, traction and durability during the most technical and demanding mountaineering activities.
The new Salewa Ortles Couloir has been awarded the ISPO Gold Award as one of the best products in the industry.
