With Salewa’s Ultra Train we had already become familiar with it in previous years. The 22l version is completely new and represents the maximum capacity offered on this line. Ultra Train 22 is a unisex backpack, characterized by extreme lightness and comfort, designed for those who love to move quickly in the mountains. It has a contained shape, a simple and attractive appearance, in line with the direction taken by the brand. The opening zippers on the 14l and 18l versions disappear in favour of a wide opening from the top, to which a direct side access with zip closure has been cleverly added. The choice of applying a drawstring on the top opening, generally reserved for climbing backpacks to allow the rope to be positioned. Appreciated instead the magnetic buckle that can be opened and closed with one hand.

The eye cannot escape the characteristic destructured shoulder straps which give great airiness and allow exceptional freedom of movement. On the dorsal part we find the Dry Back system with EVA back panel, which adapts to the shape of the back, limiting the contact surfaces. A spongy structure, equipped with 3D ventilation channels, to try to favour the air flow when, as in this case, the load is extremely close to the body. This effect is enhanced by the Twin Compression System, which is very simple and easy to use, even on the move.

The adjustment is made by pulling or lengthening the straps connected to the double chest and ventral belts, allowing the volume to be compressed according to the amount of material stowed. The solution chosen for the side pockets is completely new. At full height there are long nylon pockets designed to hold trekking poles. These are superimposed on the classic mesh pockets that are quickly accessible without having to unhook the backpack. The top pocket with zip is kept (as in the past) to store keys and valuables. A simple and essential backpack, ideal for day trips, suitable for those who make speed their way to the mountains. A curiosity: the Salewa print is reflective to increase visibility at night.
