Simon Gietl completes the Odle Group in the Dolomites.

Bolzano, Feb. 27, 2023 – On Feb. 14, 2023, professional mountaineer and Salewa ambassador Simon Gietl makes the first winter traverse of the twelve peaks of the Odle Group.
A traverse beyond the limits.

The 30-year-old South Tyrolean starts from Longiarù, his goal is to cross the 12 peaks, without being familiar with them, except for Little Fermeda.
Gietl carries an 18-pound backpack on his shoulders equipped with all the necessary equipment.

After the ascent, rest in the bivouac between Furchetta and Sass Rigais. The second day continues and bivouacs between Great Fermeda and Little Fermeda. Finally, he climbs the twelve peaks, descends to Seceda, and arrives at Selva’s Baita Pramulin hut, welcomed by Andrea Oberbacher and Ivo Rabanser.

“The desire to find an answer to my questions was so great that I could not resist: that’s why I decided to make the Odle Group winter solo traverse. The route was arduous and tiring, but still spectacular and fun. After three days of great tension and deep concentration, to succeed was a truly overwhelming feeling. I am grateful for being able to experience this intense moment – I know I will never forget it!”, Gietl adds.
