Test: Dynafit Radical 88

A truly all around ski to grind meters in altitude and increase the feeling of riding.

It is a ski for (almost) every day that reacts well in very different conditions and can be an excellent choice for those who want a unique ski. The soul is in poplar but the most interesting qualities are the construction of the rocker at the tip and tail, which make it a very manageable ski, and the sidecut that is the same on all lengths, which ensures that the length of the edge is proportional in all measures. With these skis, cornering was smooth, easy and the long radius makes it a very forgiving ski. The sides completely in ABS also guarantee excellent power transmission on different types of snow, from hard pack to soft snow. We easily used Radical 88 uphill and the tip has its own entry for the skins, allowing a very quick release and attachment of the skins, we liked it. Downhill they have been good in everything, even if they don’t shine in any particular conditions. At high speeds they tend to vibrate a little and in deep snow they are not ideal, especially for heavy skiers. The manufacturer suggests mounting them with the matching binding, and in this case the Titanal plate placed in the ski in the binding area guarantees a perfectly balanced flex of the ski. It is a versatile ski and thanks to the coordinated set-up proposal, Radical 88 by Dynafit is a good option for those who approach ski mountaineering and have to grind meters in altitude before understanding what kind of skier they want to become.
