Often very unique technologies risk being like meteors, which go away as they arrive. On, on the other hand, has managed to develop and give continuity to an intuition that is now 12 years old: the well known CloudTec midsole. This spring our testers tried Cloudvista, On’s trail model designed to have fun over any distance. We liked Cloudvista a lot on the runway (such as forestry, dirt roads, single tracks, up to asphalt), while it suffers a little on technical terrains. The stack from the ground is quite contained, but the excellent cushoning and the perceived generous drop make it comfortable on any foot support, whether it is on the forefoot or further back, up to the heel. Except for runners that are used to very wide shoes, the fit of Cloudvista adapts to any type of foot: it has no gaps or compression points, instead it features excellent torsion and flexion. The upper is developed with a thin mesh lining on the inside and a 70% recycled honeycomb fabric on the outside, reinforced by TPU on the toe and midfoot, which wraps the foot without stiffening or giving too much support. The tongue is integrated into the inner lining so as not to move or rotate while running. It recalls a road shoe, making it very light and comfortable. It’s fun to wear it while running at a medium and fast pace, since it returns the energy discharged to the ground without letting the foot sink into the midsole. Also suitable for slow hilly terrains.
