The guys from Rock Experience could not have chosen a better name for this jacket for mountaineering: minimalist, light, compact, easy to handle and easy to wear. Levitas is in fact the name of the new extra light down jacket produced by Rock Experience developed in collaboration with Ragni di Lecco: the outer fabric has a tear-resistant ripstop construction, an useful feature especially on routes that see many dense forest, such as the ones we faced during our tests. But let’s get to the real strength of this jacket: the weight that does not reach 400 grams but, thanks to the 60 grams supercompact Thermore Ecodown padding, is able to guarantee high thermal power with a minimum size. The other thing we really appreciated is the attention to details which, during the climb, avoids annoying adjustments, such as the one imposed by the helmet: here, thanks to the hood with elastic edge, wearing the helmet is much more comfortable. Even the lycra cuffs, which adapt perfectly to the body, ensure that freedom of movement is at the highest level. We tried the Levitas down jacket on a cold but sunny day, the high-neck zip is designed to offer maximum protection even in the most adverse weather conditions while the central pocket on the chest is a comfortable housing during wall excursions. Another comfortable feature designed specifically for climbers is the cylindrical bag in which to store the jacket: it is equipped with a daisy chain that helps to horizontally hang it on the harness in a very practical way.

We Like: Its compactness and lightweight that ensure maximum freedom of movement
