Scott’s Superguide have become an icon in the world of touring. The 95, in particular, is a ski that, in addition to being devoted to lightness and uphill performance, is extremely skiable and fun downhill. The Paulownia/beech core with carbon and aramid inserts, together with the 3Dimension Touring technology, make this ski light but agile in the most decisive turns. In the test we were surprised at how light it is for its size, completely exceeding expectations, being both lively and stable for its weight. The very straight sidecut isn’t such a bad thing uphill, but it does mean it’s not that great on edge change. At high speed it doesn’t exactly make tight turns, but once you get to know it you will find the right compromise between speed and radius of curvature, with very precise response from the ski. Despite its natural, somewhat lazy style, it is a ski that can be pushed much more than what it suggests. Let’s remember that it’s still a touring/free touring model. The straight edges are great for climbing (especially since they don’t seem to compromise performance on hard pack) and the 95mm width under the foot make it a ski you can have fun with even on powder. Scott’s Superguide 95 will do its duty from the first outings of the season to the long spring rides: a versatile ski that demonstrate its qualities on the feet of every type of skier.

We Like: Versatility and excellent performance both uphill and downhill.
