The 71st Trento Film Festival begins

The Trento Film Festival reaches its 71st edition offering a rich program for all fans of the world of cinema.

This festival, which began with the aim of exploring and deepening themes related to mountains and nature, has developed over the years by expanding its scope to include culture, adventure and the discovery of peoples. In this edition, the Trento Film Festival presents a wide selection of documentaries, shorts and films, exploring issues such as climate change, ecology, integration and respect for the environment. Through collaboration with other major cultural institutions, this international festival has become a must-attend event for those seeking a unique and exciting film experience.

The 71st Trento Film Festival will begin on Friday, April 28, with the opening of MontagnaLibri, the international mountain publishing exhibition, which can be visited in the pavilion in Piazza Duomo from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Two exhibitions of the Destination…Ethiopia section will also be inaugurated at Palazzo Benvenuti on 12 Belenzani Street at 11:00 a.m. The first is entitled Postcards from Ethiopia, travel notes written through the eyes and light of Paolo Ronc’s lens. The second, however, is entitled “A gallery of achievements. Italian Work in Ethiopia from 1941 to 1973.”, with a talk by curator Carmelo Giordano. In the afternoon, also as part of Destination…Ethiopia, the Friends of Ethiopia Association will tell the story of the friendship between Italy and the African country through an appointment entitled “Italian Cooperation in Ethiopia: Past and Present” at 4 p.m. At I.T.E. Tambosi, at the same time there will instead be Passaggi di stato, a conversation in the Aula Magna on the book“Inverno liquido” by Maurizio Dematteis and Michele Nardelli (Derive e Approdi editore), with the participation of the authors and Stefano Moltrer of Panarotta SkialpNatur. At 5 p.m. the Opening Ceremony of the 71st Trento Film Festival will begin: in the splendid setting of the Sala Grande of the Castello del Buonconsiglio, representatives of the Festival and local institutions will speak; special guest, journalist and screenwriter Andrea Purgatori. Half an hour later at the SAT House on Manci Street,“Mountain and Diabetes” will be discussed with the participation of Massimo Orrasch, Marco Peruffo and Mattia Tanza. The occasion will also be used to present the “SAT Health Point,” accessible on the following days. Instead, at 6 p.m., MontagnaLibri’s Literary Salon will host the first meeting of Emotions between the pages, with the presentation of the book “The man who looked at the mountain” by Massimo Calvi (Edizioni San Paolo) accompanied by a dialogue between Diego Andreatta, director of Vita Trentina, the author and the archbishop of Trent, Lauro Tisi. The 6 p.m. appointment at the Roccabruna Palace “Mountain & Music. Grappa of Trentino and its blends.” Instead, it will be light and fun, with grappas to be tasted while listening to live music. At 6:30 p.m. the unprecedented pair Alessandro Franceschini and Rosario Sala will present the exhibition “Time travelers, time in travel. From drawing to photography” curated by Eva Lavinia Maffei: an artistic dyad in which the comparison between two styles of travelogue, drawing and photography, but also between two means, train and motorcycle, is proposed. First appointment at the Baita Festival of Baptist Square with the new column One hour to acclimatize, curated by There Will Be Good Weather, High Relief/Mountain Voices, The Dolomites and POW, where at 7 p.m. there will be “the Aperitif for a Good Climate.”, a format for networking within climate movements, citizenship, journalism and politics. From 8 p.m., space for music with Green Vibes. Sustained and sustainable sounds, “high frequency” DJ set by Radio Dolomiti. At 9 p.m., the Philharmonic Hall will instead host “Highland. Journey of Stories and Songs in Ethiopia.” with singer and actress Saba Anglana, who will take the audience on a journey of discovery from Ethiopia’s ancient culture to original compositions inspired by traditional pentatonic scales.
