The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is coming back

The International medium and short Film Festival dedicated to the mountain world and the outdoor sports, is ready to return in Italy. Active since 2013, this year, the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour celebrates its eighth edition with 41 events in 35 Italian cities. With more than 66,000 visitors in the last seven years, this long journey through Italy will begin the 10th of February at the National Theatre in Milan, and then continue in the other major cities of Turin, Bologna, Florence and Rome, although from this year, other important new locations have been added, such as: Finale Ligure, Como, Bassano del Grappa, Belluno, Cesena, Bari and Palermo.

“We are really proud to announce the 8th Italian edition of the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour – said Alessandra Raggio, CEO of Ithaca, the company that in Italy manages, organizes and promotes the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour, the Ocean Film Festival and the Reel Rock Tour, who added – we started in 2013 with only 5 dates and a total of 2500 spectators at the end of the tour. In 2019 we had a calendar of 34 dates and over 14,000 appearances. Our goal is to grow further and bring these wonderful films to an ever wider audience. For this reason we decided to launch our hearts over the hurdle and organize 41 screenings for this eighth edition, giving more than 17,000 people the chance to discover the fantastic mountains world and the outdoor sports”.

A long two-month journey to present at a wide public the 10 new films dedicated to the outdoor world. Among the most exciting we found the 375 km solo trip along the rapids of the Himalayan rivers of Nouria Newman with his The Ladakh Project or the stages that led Hilaree Nelson and Jim Morrison to complete the first descent on skis of the Lhotse Couloir to the 6400 m at Camp 2 on the fourth highest mountain in the world with Lhotse. In addition to watching these wonderful shorts and full-length films, there will also be many guests expected in the hall during the 2020 Banff edition. Among them the ambassadors “La SportivaLudovico Fossali ( Italian national climbing team athlete qualified for the Olympics in Tokyo 2020), Federica Mingolla (the first Italian woman to free climb Tom et Je Ris, in Verdon, 8b+), Michael Piccolruaz (top bouldering athlete of the Italian national climbing team) and Anna Torretta (multiple Italian Ice Climbing Champion and Vice World Champion in 2006). Besides them, they will also bring their sports and life experiences to Banff even: Marcello Bombardi, Wafaa Amer, Silvio Reffo, Silvestro e Tomas Franchini, Luca Zardini e Pietro Radassao.
