The North Face and activist Oryana Awaisheh in a special collection

For over 50 years The North Face has been committed to supporting women in the creation of a network that promotes positive change: from sponsoring the first all-female expedition on Annapurna in 1978, to the constant support to the climber Margo Hayes committed to becoming the first woman to climb a 9a + route.

With the launch of its collection for the International Women’s Day, the brand has confirmed its commitment in this direction: for the first time in the history of the brand the entire campaign, from conception to design, has been entrusted to a team composed only of women.

The collection will also be the first line produced by a new all-female factory in Jordan. Born from an idea of Oryana Awaisheh, who from translator became Executive Manager of the Jerash Garment Factory, the factory that offers more than 500 new jobs and countless other opportunities for women and their families.

For Oryana, this new campaign is the perfect way to highlight the talent and skills of the extraordinary women who work behind the scenes. “There are many capable, talented and ambitious women in the world and I am incredibly proud to be able to collaborate with The North Face to give support and visibility to what is just an example of the extraordinary work done by women”.

The collection includes a t-shirt that recalls the representative colors of International Women’s Day and a practical tote bag. The t-shirts, however, are not in the classic cotton fabric, but in a practical technical fabric designed to encourage women to go out and explore.

On the shirts there is also an iconic photograph of Yosemite showing two rebellious women on top of a rocky wall who climbed with clothes and stilettos.

Tina Rolen, VP Marketing of The North Face, is firmly convinced that this campaign can have a long-term impact on the next generations. “The photograph of those women is an image from which I believe that every woman today can draw inspiration. For over half a century The North Face has been at the forefront of encouraging and supporting women to achieve extraordinary goals and we are excited to support once again the extraordinary results and hard work shown by women like Oryana”.
