The Return of Spot-bilt Sonic by Saucony

After blowing out 125 candles, the journey of Saucony continues by restarting in the 1980s.

Spot-Bilt Sonic is Saucony Originals ‘ first SS23 release and also the model that kicks off the brand’s 125th anniversary. In fact, Saucony was born in 1898, on the banks of the river of the same name, the Saucony Creek in Pennsylvania, a place so special that it provided the inspiration for the brand name and its logo: water flowing around three boulders that represent the pillars of the company, namely tradition, innovation and design. Today, straight from the archives, this iconic silhouette, typically worn by athletes and basketball lovers, has returned to be loved by all in its new leather reissue, with OG colors and era-defining details.

A curiosity related to this model takes our memory back to the 1980s. At the time, Spot-Bilt had gained major endorsements in American basketball through the Hangtime and X-Press Pro models of Xavier “the X-Man” McDaniel. In 1984, however, Spot-Bilt also came very close to signing a young unknown rookie named Michael Jordan. If Jordan had teamed up with Spotbilt, who knows what directions the history of sneakers would have taken? Saucony’s new Spot-Bilt Sonic is available in its original coloring, in both high and low editions, with perforated premium leather upper and shaft for improved breathability. After dominating the courts in the 1980s, this model is back in the limelight, proving to be a must-have for all Saucony lovers.
