Vaude Green Shape Core Collection: the future of sustainable outdoor equipment
The Green Shape Core Collection is the core of the Vaude winter collection for 2018/19: an equipment for multiple outdoor activities, sustainable from every point of view. Vaude has developed for the collection some innovative, functional and environmentally friendly materials, which at the same time offer solutions for global environmental problems, such as microplastics. In this way, Vaude offers products with the lowest environmental impact of the sector, emphasizes its pioneering role and shows what it is possible to achieve with innovative and environmentally friendly outdoor equipment in the future.
The Green Shape Core Collection includes 19 sustainable multi-use products – clothing, shoes, backpacks – designed for a wide range of outdoor activities. They are characterized by a natural look and tactility and combine performance with a feeling of well-being and great durability. Thanks to a layered system, the garments are perfectly matched in terms of design and functionality, from one-layer garments to the 3-layer waterproof jacket. Approximately 90% of the many textile materials used for production are biologically based, recycled or solely natural.
Antje von Dewitz, ceo of Vaude: «The entire collection is “ecofair”. This means that reserves of precious raw materials are protected, using recycled materials and replacing raw materials of fossil origin with bio-based alternatives, for example made from kapok tree, castor oil or cow’s milk. We use biodegradable fibers for fleece products for the first time and exploit the natural functional characteristics of the materials to minimize the use of chemicals».
Moreover, Vaude adopts processes with a low environmental impact along the entire supply chain, from the acquisition of materials to their processing in innovative products, and also observes the respect of fair working conditions in its production facilities.
