The new Vans collection with Alex Knost and Lee-Ann Curren
Alex Knost and Lee-Ann Curren meet Vans to create a Surf Mindfully-Made collection
We know Vans because it is capable of daring and giving life to cutting-edge products. Precisely for this reason he decided to create a collection designed by the creative minds of the members of the Vans Surf family, Alex Knost and Lee-Ann Curren.
The watchwords are: inclusiveness and renewal. Every single item is designed to be genderless and to make the wearer feel at ease, offering a diverse and creative offer.
The two surfers were inspired by some characteristic elements of the 90s. From surf commercials of the years, color palettes, old movies, concert posters and album covers.
The most iconic piece of the collection is definitely the Colfax Low, made of high quality and sustainable full grain leather. Everything is made taking into account a personalization and details that recall the general collection, while offering comfort and support throughout the day.
Another innovative component offered by Vans is the Circle Vee, completely black and the latest sustainable silhouette. The upper, in fact, is sewn directly onto the sole and is made of 48% organic cotton, 47% hemp and 5% nylon. Not only that: the Circle Vee introduces the Vans EcoWaffle sole, made with a new rubber compound that uses natural rubber instead of synthetic rubber (made with petroleum).
The all-new EcoCush drop-in footbed is made with 70% bio-based Fates foam, which is derived from plant-based oils, without sacrificing performance. This new footbed provides maximum comfort and support throughout the day with a molded heel cup and arch shape.
Other key pieces are the black and aquatic graphic t-shirts, and the black Authentic Chino Pant.
But who are the protagonists of this collaboration? Lee-Ann Curren has honed her skills by focusing on free surfing and is the daughter of living legend Tom Curren.
Alex Knost, on the other hand, represents creative expression in its most authentic form. All with an unconventional approach to surfing, music, art and fashion, which distinguishes it.
