Vans debuts monumental skate installation in Paris

The massive structure under Sacred Heart will host a live skateboarding performance, DJ set by Justice, and musical performances by Kaytranada, Busy P and others.

June 21, 2024 – Vans is revolutionizing the skate world by fusing skateboarding, design, art and music in a visionary event in Paris. The week began with a skate jam in honor of Anthony Van Engelen ‘s footwear and the opening of an exhibition by skateboarding photographer and Vans Brand Curator, Atiba Jefferson. The event culminates today with the return of OTW by Vans to Paris Fashion Week through a large installation at the foot of the Sacred Heart Basilica.

Expansion and Investment in Training

The recent acquisition of Meet Italia and the expansion of production capacity are accompanied by increased investment in training and employee services. For La Sportiva, the well-being of employees in harmony with the local community is a key aspect of its strategic development. The company is committed to creating a pleasant working environment that is integrated into the social context of Val di Fiemme, in order to provide a balance between work and personal life, as well as to strengthen the sense of belonging to the organization.

The Checkered Future Installation

The OTW by Vans Checkered Future installation is located on Montmartre Hill, using the Basilica of the Sacred Heart as a stage to celebrate Go Skateboarding Day and Fête de la Musique. The event includes a live skate performance by Vans team athletes and musical performances by Kaytranada, Venus X, Busy P and Tatyana Jane, as well as a DJ set by JUSTICE.

Union of Aesthetics and Functionality

Inspired by the natural beauty of the location, OTW by Vans collaborated with PLAYLAB, INC. and California Skateparks to create a unique installation that blends the aesthetics of the Sacred Heart Basilica with Vans’ classic checkerboard pattern. The installation stretches along Butte Montmartre and consists of an oversized skate bowl at the base of the steps and a checkered stage for DJ performances at the top of the hill, offering spectacular views of Paris.

Innovative Approach of OTW by Vans

The installation at Sacred Heart demonstrates OTW by Vans’ innovative and out-of-the-box approach to the brand’s most aspirational expression of product design and consumer experiences. OTW debuted during Paris Men’s Fashion Week in June 2023 on the Seine and recently launched a collaboration with S.R.STUDIO. LA. CA. by Sterling Ruby at Frieze Los Angeles.

A Commitment to Visionary Experiences

These moments highlight OTW by Vans’ ongoing commitment to curating visionary and aspirational experiences that fuse skateboarding with cultural elements. The goal is to make a lasting impact on the global scene by bringing the skate world to the forefront of international culture.
