Generali Milano Marathon 2019

Generali Milano Marathon 2019

The 19th edition of the Generali Milano Marathon will be Sunday 7th april starting from 9am from Corso Venezia, in the middle of the historic city in Lombardy.

The first big news of this edition is the entry of Generali, an insurance group among the world leaders, as a Title Sponsor. Generali will be present at the event with The Human Safety Net, the Group’s global initiative based on the belief that creating communities of people who help others can help to achieve long-term changes.

The Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of RCS Sport, Paolo Bellino, opened his speech reporting the greeting of the Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, who stated: “We are proud to renew the appointment with the Milan Marathon, which has reached its 19th edition. An event dedicated to all lovers of running, sport and healthy physical activity that brings prestige to our city. It is a very successful event, a “four days” increasingly international involving many foreigners attracted by the path and the many opportunities that Milan can offer. Our goal is to ensure that the Marathon becomes increasingly important, a valid support for the candidacy of Milan at the Olympics Games. Sport is increasingly an engine of growth and development for the territory. And this event can only confirm Milan as the true capital of sport”.

One of the significant changes in 2019 will be the transformation of the Marathon Village into a large exhibition hub (about 8,000 square meters), around which will be organized entertainment activities, try&buy, forum/clinic, presentation of events and products. The initiative will have the name of Milano Running Festival and will take place from Thursday 4 to Saturday 6 April, becoming a moment of aggregation for traders in the world of running, fitness and sports tourism, but especially for active practitioners of running .

In the neighborhood of the village, in the CityLife district, there will be the fifth edition of the Bridgestone School Marathon, a non-competitive race organized with OPES and dedicated to children, teenagers and their carers (parents, family members, teachers). After the extraordinary success obtained last year – with 10 thousand participants at the starting line – in 2019 the event will take place on Saturday 6 April on a course of about 3 km.

Among the other innovations designed for runners also the initiative related to the Running’City app, which makes available to fans and tourists visiting Milan to discover the city by running three thematic routes “extracted” from the track of marathon. In addition, Ekis, a leading company in Italy in Coaching services, will make the “Running with the Head” program available to runners free of charge. The goal is to make the sport as complete and exciting as possible, allowing members to experience the event fully, giving their best and satisfying personal expectations: for those who have a goal time, those who are passionate, for whoever imagined a challenge with himself. In the end, the MyMarathon training program for women will be back, designed in collaboration with the writer and coach Julia Jones.
