Arc’teryx Alpine Academy

Arc’teryx Alpine Academy

The Arc’teryx Alpine Academy a Chamonix, is about to return and awaits more than 450 mountaineering enthusiasts from around the world with the aim of improving their skills in the mountains and sharing their alpine knowledge. The Alpine village as always will be the meeting point and it will be in Place Du Triangle. You can’t miss a giant tent right in the centre of Chamonix. A solid programme awaits this year’s edition: there will be a series of interesting speakers, cinematographic evenings, live bands, equipment tests and trials, bouldering walls and world-class athletes demonstrations.

This year are available more than 70 guided clinics for all types of activities and skill mountain levels. Alongside established clinics such as mountaineering, climbing and trail running, the 2019 edition offers many new features: multi-day clinics with world-class athletes, family clinics and environmental clinics. From 4 to 7 July 2019, the Arc’teryx Alpine Academy will create a unique space where beginners and experts can learn from more than 120 certified mountain guides and more than 30 world-class athletes.

This year the participants can choose from four exceptional multi-day clinics with professional athletes: Mountaineering Progression with Ines Papert (ice climber/mountaineer), Ski mountaineering with Thibaud Duchosal (skier), Climbing & Portaledge Night with Nina Caprez (climber) and Climb & Overnight with Luka Lindič (climber). The 2019 Arc’teryx Alpine Academy will also present a new clinic format for families: children over the age of 12 together with an adult companion will now be able to participate in selected clinics and improve their skills in bouldering, mountaineering and rock climbing. New environmental clinics on Glaciology/Permafrost and Flora and Fauna, in collaboration with Crea Mont-Blanc, will also offer to participants the opportunity to learn more about climate change and its impact on the environment from experts. In multi-day clinics such as Bolts & Belays and Trail Maintenance, participants will have the opportunity to support and return to the mountain environment and local community. In collaboration with Greenspits, the Bolts & Belays clinic will focus on the renovation of existing climbing routes.
