Beatrice Colli U18 Speed World Champion

Beatrice Colli, 16 years old from Lecco, Rock Experience ambassador and athlete of the Ragni di Lecco sport climbing team, became world champion in the Under 18 Speed category during the recent World Championship in Russia. A result that comes after numerous successes and placings at international level between European Cup and European Championships.

She said she wanted to win, and she did. Beatrice Colli in Voronezh, Russia, became Speed World Champion in the Youth A category. A practically perfect performance, that of Beatrice, which allowed her to stop the time at 7.92″ seconds, beating the German Nuria Brockfield and the American Callie Close, who arrived respectively on the second and third step of the podium.

An extraordinary victory for the Rock Experience testimonial and athlete of the Ragni di Lecco team, which came after numerous successes and placings at international level, including European Cups and European Championships, and which this time allowed her to reach the roof of the world for the first time in her still short career as an athlete. “I went to the gym with the desire to do a good race, without the agitation of having to win or prove something to someone, although at the beginning of the year I had said that I would go to the World Championships to win – says Beatrice. I faced the qualifications with the right charge and not with too much anxiety, I just got a bit nervous before the finals, but then I managed to control myself and the victory arrived. It was a victory that I didn’t expect but that I knew I could bring home because my opponents were doing the same times as me and there wasn’t someone unreachable.”

A sensational victory of the best possible athlete, a climber able in 8 days to win two golds and a bronze at the Italian Youth Championships and a gold at the World Youth Championship, as stated by the coach Fabio Palma who continues: “She had publicly declared it in January, it was her main goal among many, being versatile, in a 2021 that has become fantastic. She deserves everything and I am honored to coach her and to have accompanied her to a historic result. After all, I really live to write about it.” A victory that Beatrice dedicated just to coach Fabio and his family. “It’s to Fabio, and to his commitment, that I owe most of my victories – continues Beatrice. And, obviously, also to my family who supported me financially, accompanied me to training sessions everywhere and gave me the possibility to travel. It’s also thanks to them that I’ve come this far.”

Passion, willpower, talent, sacrifices and the desire to make all those dreams come true that dot the life of a 16-year-old who for years has spent her days between school and training. This is what lies at the base of Beatrice’s success. Born in 2004 and originally from Colico (Lecco), Beatrice began climbing at a very young age, first on the walls near her home and then in the gym, where her passion was nurtured day after day, allowing her to achieve greater and greater success.
