Blogger Contest 2020, an edition from 110 and praise

The 9th edition of the Altitude Blogger Contest closed with 110 stories, including stories, audio stories and web comics. A unique polyphony of voices on the mountain. In the first days of February we will know the winners.

With a bit of emphasis we could define this 9th edition of the Blogger Contest as “110 with honors”. Many, in fact, are the multimedia units (short stories, audio stories and illustrated stories) that we have received, with a participation that has exceeded the best expectations. The Altitudini Blogger Contest is by now recognized as one of the most followed and participated multi-media writing events dedicated to the mountains.
Since the first edition, the idea that has animated the Blogger Contest has been to go beyond the classic dynamic of the competition to build a platform for exchange, meeting and mutual understanding. Our life is a web of stories, the Blogger Contest for nine years intercepts the desire (and the need) to tell them with a polyphony of voices on the mountain unique in its kind. In this edition, authors were asked to participate with a narrative reportage, a literary genre in which the author has direct experience of facts and describes them through narrative tools. 110 authors responded to the call, coming from all over Italy, with a variety of stories that take us inside the lives of people and places (there are alpine and Apennine mountains, those of the islands, of trips just a stone’s throw from home and on the great Himalayan mountains; long walks and bike rides, easy excursions and challenging ascents and ski-mountaineering), all stories that contain a special power, because we know they are true.
In these days the selection jury has started the examination of the stories that will pass to the final phase. The selection is made through criteria of consistency with the theme of the contest and overall quality of the work. The finalist stories will then be judged by the awards jury, composed of jury president Luisa Mandrino (author and screenwriter), Matteo Melchiorre (historian and writer), Ornella Bellucci (journalist and author of audio documentaries), Gianluca Costantini (artist-activist and author of graphic journalism), Simona Righetti (director of Mulatero Editore), Alice Martinelli (winner of the Blogger Contest 2019).
The jury will indicate 9 winners and award 5 special prizes, for a total value of prizes offered by sponsors of almost € 6,000. The winners will be known within the first days of February, the award ceremony instead will take place in a public meeting to be defined the date based on the evolution of the provisions related to Covid-19.
