The snow season officially starts on December 8, and it does so with a great opportunity for ski mountaineering enthusiasts: in fact, Blizzard-Tecnica, together with Cortina 360° is a partner of “
The North Face Cortina Winter Basecamp
“.

As part of the Basecamp project, launched by The North Face to create meeting and sharing hubs for local communities of climbers, trail runners and mountaineers, the brand is organizing a free two-day masterclass on a magnificent Skitouring experience in the heart of the Dolomites. An appointment that, in its first winter stage, is enriched by two important partnerships: on the one hand the expertise and experience of Cortina 360° mountain guides, and on the other the supply of top materials such as Blizzard-Tecnica skis and boots, an absolute reference point in the world of off-piste skiing. And what better place than Cortina and its unique landscape to start approaching the world of off-piste skiing?

The program

It begins on Friday, Dec. 8, with a workshop at The North Face store (Corso Italia 124) during which Cortina 360° mountain guides will share the briefing for the Skitour day scheduled for Saturday. People will learn how to correctly read the weather forecast and avalanche bulletin, discuss mountain safety, and learn more about The North Face’s latest innovations and technologies for high mountain sports. Blizzard-Tecnica project managers, on the other hand, will explain how, just by collaborating with professionals and mountain guides, the most innovative ski mountaineering solutions in terms of skis and boots were born. Blizzard-Technica materials for the hike will also be available for pickup at the Cortina 360° office on Friday afternoon.

On Saturday, Dec. 9, after meeting at 7:30 a.m. at the climbing gym CORTINA 360, (Sopiazes Location) participants will set off for a series of activities depending on their level of experience in skitouring, from propaedeutic exercises for beginners, to ascent and descent techniques for the intermediate level, to the actual skitour for experts, together with Cortina360° mountain guides, who will also provide the self-rescue kit (artva, shovel and probe, mandatory in off-piste exits), helmet and skins. With them is a special guest: Freeride World Tour champion, and Blizzard and The North Face athlete, Léo Slemett.

Blizzard-Tecnica will provide the best of skis and boots dedicated to the diverse world of ski mountaineering, from the historic Zero G to the latest generation of freeride models, Rustler and Sheeva, new for the 23-24 season. For boots, on the other hand, it will be possible to try the combination of performance and comfort of the ZeroG or the new Cochise, now even more sustainable because it has been redesigned according to ecodesign principles. Because those who love the mountain take care of it at every opportunity.
