Emily Harrington: free-climb the Golden Gate in less than 24 hours

Emily Harrington becomes the first woman to climb the Golden Gate of El Capitan in less than 24 hours, in exactly 21 hours and 13 minutes. One year after her risky fall on El Capitan Hillary, she wants women to know that they can excel “as much as men” in this sport.

Climber Emily Harrington is also the fourth person to climb the Golden Gate route in Yosemite in a single day supported by Alex Honnold.

Immediately after that he wrote on Instagram: “I never believed I could actually free climb El Cap in a day when I first set the goal for myself. It didn’t seem like a realistic objective for me. I didn’t have the skills, fitness, or risk profile to move so quickly over such a large piece of stone. But I chose it exactly for that reason. Impossible dreams challenge us to rise above who we are now to see if we can become better versions of ourselves.”
