Fire in the Fischer production centre in Ukraine

On the night between 11 and 12 October 2020, a fire broke out at Fischer’s production plant in Mukachevo, Ukraine. The exact extent of the damage is still being determined, but fortunately no one was injured in the accident.

For over 30 years, the Mukachevo plant has been an important pillar of the Fischer Sports Group’s production process, with over 900 employees at the plant, in addition to the main production site at the brand’s headquarters in Ried im Innkreis, Austria.

Several ski production units were hit by the fire but the rapid intervention of the local fire brigade prevented the flames from spreading to the hockey stick production department and the office building.
According to the most recent information, the cause of the fire appears to be a short circuit.

As far as the effects on the 20/21 season are concerned, since production of more than 90% of the materials ordered has already been completed, the Austrian company is keen to reassure its customers about forthcoming deliveries.
No involvement with the fire for racing and high-end items, as well as for product categories such as boots, sticks, etc., being the same produced and stored at the Ried and Montebelluna sites.

At the moment it is not possible to estimate when production will be able to be restarted at the Mukachevo plant; in view of this, the production capacity of the Ried site will be immediately increased, and extra shifts will be used on both sites to guarantee the return to full capacity in the shortest possible time.
