ALL SET IN CANAZEI FOR THE ITALIAN STAGE GOLDEN TRAIL WORLD SERIES: THE ULTIMATE EXPRESSION OF HIGH ALTITUDE RACES SIGNED BY SALOMON
Here comes the DoloMyths Run Skyrace, the only Italian leg of the international Golden Trail World Series 2023 circuit. This year we definitely enter the Olympus of world competitions. From Friday to Sunday in Canazei, the well-known Fassa Valley resort with the DoloMyths Run Skyrace 2023 becomes the heart of the International Trail, with the Italian trial starting on Saturday, July 15.
Then it will not be an ordinary edition for the iconic Italian race, already because this year celebrates its 25th anniversary! A birthday that puts this event in the ledger of high altitude racing. Salomon Italy recalls how it all started in 1998 from the will of Diego Perathoner and Sergio Valentini, two members of the Fassa Valley Mountain Rescue who decided to invent an event dedicated to running at altitude in their Region.
What makes the difference is the extraordinary path, For the past five lustres it has been run with a total length of 22 km between the tracks and scree of Forcella Pordoi and Val Lastiès reaching the maximum altitude of Piz Boè (3,152 m), with an ascent of 1,750 m. for a course of 10 km uphill and 12 km downhill, with start and finish set, as per tradition, in the center of Canazei in Piazza Marconi.
The race after only 6 years was recognized internationally: it became part of the Skyrunner World Series calendar in 2004, becoming a recurring event in the Series. The recognition from 2019 was inmense when DoloMyths Run Skyrace entered the Golden Trail World Series calendar, Salomon’s signature trail running extravaganza.

Caterina Stenta: “Saturday, July 15 will be an exciting day: competing in Val di Fassa another stage of the Golden Trail World Series among the world’s top Skyrace performers is a privilege and an opportunity to which I would like to arrive prepared and ready to give my best. A nice steep course up to Piz Boè and then a very fast descent back to Canazei. It will be a fast and very competitive race. I hope to recover quickly from the MMB and arrive fresh and ready to push hard-I can’t wait!”
Mattia Bertoncini: “As for the race I am very focused is charged to do well, given the two circuit results first in Zegama and then in Chamonix. I know the course very well sinceIhave done the race 3 times already, I will try to push from the beginning trying to lower my time from last year and get the best result to gain points in the ranking. See you in Canazei!”
