Gore Fabrics and its sustainability report

The Sustainability Report 2020 shares details on how the Division intends to apply the newly introduced sustainability framework, using sound science, transparency and cooperation to provide innovative solutions to its customers and the industry.

In addition, the update includes an interview with the leaders of the Consumer Oriented Fabrics (COF) and Technical Oriented Fabrics (TOF) businesses in which they share how they are implementing and using the new framework to help reinforce the importance of sustainability for the Gore Fabrics division.

Gore Fabrics Division is pleased to share the 2020 targets:

– Setting new targets to reduce carbon, achieve climate neutrality by 2050 and contribute to the global effort towards climate change mitigation;
– Achieving the targets set three years ago to have 85% of clothing laminates approved by bluesign and 100% of clothing laminates certified to Oeko-Tex Standard 100;
– The result of a three-year effort to triple the number of Gore-Tex laminates (now more than 150) that use recycled and solution-dyed components;
– Sharing data on the environmental impact of Gore-Tex apparel laminates through the Higg Materials Sustainability Index (MSI) This index was created to help customers make informed decisions;
– Use of the Higg Facility Tools, implemented to increase transparency on the environmental and social impacts of Gore Fabrics production sites;
– The signing of the Manifesto of the international initiative “S.O.S. SOIL – Save Organics in Soil” by the Solid Waste Treatment Team of the TOF business, with the aim of encouraging environmentally friendly soil management practices;
– Update on progress towards the elimination of PFCs of Environmental Concern (PFCECs) from Gore Fabrics division products.

These are examples of initiatives and collaborations that the Division believes are important to making a difference for the planet and for people. Using decades of scientific knowledge, R&D and testing, the Gore Fabrics Division will continue to promote innovative and environmentally improved materials to offer an optimal combination of high performance and low impact.
