IDA-SOPHIE HEGEMANN SETS NEW WOMEN’S FKT RECORD

Last June 27, The North Face team athlete Ida-Sophie Hegemann became the first woman to run the entire distance of the Karwendel Höhenweg in Austria in a single push, setting a new FKT women’s record with a time of 10 hours and 42 minutes.

Ida establishes herself as the fastest woman to complete the 65.5 kilometers with over 5,000 meters of elevation gain of the High-Altitude Trail, making history.

The Karwendel Höhenweg is a very exposed and technically challenging alpine trail between Germany and Austria, which is normally completed in 3-4 days by experienced hikers.

With her record of 10 hours and 42 minutes, Ida-Sophie Hegemann reaches another extraordinary milestone in her trail running career.

On this Fastest Known Time occasion, Ida demonstrated an incredible feat in terms of technical skill and determination. In recent years, Ida has already won a number of major Alpine races, including the Transalpine Run, the Mont Blanc Marathon, and the Innsbruck Alpine Race, proving her talent.

Ida-Sophie Hegemann commented on her outstanding achievement as follows:

“I am very happy with how it went, even though you can see how much I suffered. To sum it up in one sentence: it was technical and hard, but it was worth it.”

During this feat, Ida was supported by the technology built into The North Face Summit VECTIV Pro shoe, which features a VECTIV™ 2.0 carbon fiber plate to provide stability and energy return on technical terrain such as the Karwendel Höhenweg.
