Lonely Planet: a new mountain-bike trail in Livigno

In Livigno, mountain-bike lovers can now ride the Lonely Planet: a new single-trail that completes the project of the Mountain Park Carosello 3000/Sitas to propose a riding suitable for everyone, not extreme and that allows to connect with the surrounding nature.

The Lonely Planet is a single-trail to drive, with uneven curves and a sinuous line that follows the morphology of the terrain between numerous bumps and hollows. We are inside Val Federia, a valley that has remained unspoilt and with very few signs of human presence. Here the panorama is really suggestive: the valley floor is very green with pastures and watercourses, while in front of it the imposing peak of Leverone and the spectacular rocky ridges of the Saliente are carved. Dividing the two, there is a ridge where you can still see the tracks once used by smugglers and now mostly covered by e-bikes. Switzerland is just a few hundred metres as the crow flies.
In the second part, the trail turns towards the valley of Livigno, remaining above the Calcheira, an area famous in winter for its countless lines in fresh snow, but so far unexplored to mountain-bike travelers. Here the view opens surprisingly over Lake Livigno and the path joins the Roller Coaster, one of the most popular routes in Little Tibet for its fast and fun flow lines.
The Lonely Planet is the central part of the “Great Escape” tour, a route that combines the Coast to Coast and Roller Coaster trails ensuring a 14 km long non-stop riding experience. A route that starts on the peak of Carosello 3000 and crosses the entire mountainside ending a few hundred meters from the center of Livigno, near the cable car Sitas/Livigno Centro.
The official opening is scheduled for Saturday, August 8th with the presence of the Mountain Bike pioneer Hans Rey, who has been inspiring and promoting Livigno and Alta Valtellina as a mountain-bike destination worldwide for years.
