GoPro today announced the new HERO9 Black camera, “best in all. With a new sensor, the camera offers 5K video, 20 megapixel photos, next-generation HyperSmooth 3.0 video stabilization with horizon alignment built into the camera, a new front display, a larger rear display and 30% longer battery life. Also coming soon is the Mod accessory for Max lens, with HyperSmooth Max video stabilization and ultra-wide angle photos and videos thanks to SuperView Max.

The HERO9 Black is available globally for a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of €479.99 or €379.98 with a one-year GoPro subscription. Current GoPro subscribers will be eligible to purchase the device for €379.98 on GoPro.com.
GoPro also announced that the GoPro PLUS subscription service has been renamed GoPro, a simpler choice that reflects the extraordinary importance of this service to the brand’s users.

“HERO9 Black reflects our commitment to meeting customer needs and demands, including value for money,” said Nicholas Woodman, founder and CEO of GoPro. “The HERO9 Black is an incredible product. GoPro subscribers can purchase it on GoPro.com at a $100 discount and enjoy unlimited cloud storage for their GoPro footage. They will also be entitled to up to 50% off all items for sale on GoPro.com and camera replacement without any questions. And that’s not all: new benefits for GoPro subscribers will come later this year.

In addition, GoPro has removed plastic from the HERO9 Black packaging, choosing instead to pack the camera in a high-quality travel case that accommodates additional media and accessories, as well as adding additional value to the product.

Maximizing the plastic produced by our business is a top priority,” Woodman said. “We are excited to bring to market a device protected by a high-value travel case instead of the traditional, hard-to-dispose packaging, and we want to take the same approach for all other cameras by the end of 2021.
