Ortovox and weatherproof backpacks

First two drops. Then a pouring rain. Alright, unsettled weather was forecast, but it’s still a little ways to go before we get to the shelter. The rain cover? No need! The contents stay dry just the same. Ortovox introduces DRY, its first line of weatherproof backpacks, with three models made completely PFC-free.

Peak 40/38S Dry, Traverse 30/28S Dry and Trad 30/28S Dry are three specific backpacks for high altitude, mountaineering and climbing, designed to cope with bad weather without the need for additional coverage. Each model of the Dry line is available in two versions, with regular or short back length. From the equipment to the clever technical details, to the convenience of the back and carrying systems, all models are designed to offer the perfect combination of comfort and functionality. The high-frequency welded waterproof seams and the special waterproof material (50,000 mm water column), which consists of a thin PU coating on the outside and a TPU coating on the inside, prevent water from seeping in without the need for an additional DWR treatment. So each backpack is perfectly adapted to the use for which it was designed, ensuring the functionality of each feature in all weather conditions and keeping the contents dry until destination without the need for a waterproof cover.

Thanks to the new DRY line, by summer 2021 98% of Ortovox’s backpack collection will be free of environmentally harmful finishes. With the launch of the upcoming fall/winter collection, the entire collection will be PFC-free. The commitment to sustainability is also reflected in the packaging, which is made of recycled plastic (30% post and 70% pre-consumer waste) and alternative compostable materials to prevent mold growth during backpack transport.
