Ortovox Safety Academy Summer 2024 – Since 1980 , the year of its founding,
Ortovox
has always been dedicated to the protection of mountains and mountaineers. In addition to developing innovative quality products designed to contribute to mountain safety, the mountain sports specialist company is also deeply committed to education through the sharing of knowledge and know-how.

TheOrtovox Safety Academy, with its program of online and offline courses, is one of the largest training initiatives dedicated to mountain sports. In the summer of 2024, the program will be further expanded with the introduction of new mountaineering and agile hiking courses. Mountaineering courses are designed to enable participants to make safe outings on icy terrain, while agile hiking courses focus on elementary climbing techniques and progression methods in alpine terrain.

The Safety Academy Lab Ice is an interactive, digital training platform designed to refresh and deepen one’s knowledge of mountaineering and provide adequate preparation for tackling rock, firn and ice. The Safety Academy Guidebook Ice is also a useful tool, dedicated to agile hikers and mountaineers, providing the basic knowledge for tackling alpine terrain in a handy pocket format.

On the road among eternal ice: over the course of four days, the High Alpine Basic course imparts the basics of how to safely tackle glacier hikes, icy terrain and mountaineering outings. Safe progression with crampons and ice axe, arrest techniques, proper glacier binding and crevasse rescue, among other aspects, are included in the program. Courses are held in Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland and the United States.

The new Mountaineering Basic course focuses on outings away from groomed trails and slopes. The course syllabus includes progression on untracked terrain, progression on firn, simple mountain boot climbing passages, and basic rock safety techniques. Courses range in length from two to three days and take place in Germany, Italy, France, Austria and the United States.

All 2024 summer course dates are listed within theOrtovox Safety Hub. In addition to mountaineering and agile hiking courses, the extensive calendar of events, produced in cooperation with member mountain schools, also includes climbing courses for all levels and first aid courses.
