For spring ’24 Osprey launches the new Downburst series, designed for treks and adventures in all conditions, rain or shine.
Downburst combines comfort and breathability with a water-resistant main compartment and quick-drying outer materials, thus offering Osprey’s signature fit and stability along with absolute waterproofing. In fact, the structure of this backpack is fully welded: all parts are joined together by welding, thus creating a seamless continuous structure laminated with TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), a thin layer of TPU that is applied to the surface to impart additional properties. At the same time, the inside of the backpack is protected with an IPX5 waterproof rating (not suitable for being submerged in water, however).
The adjustable AirSpeed suspension provides comfort and ventilation and is designed to stay dry whether hiking in hot, humid climates or in a downpour. For essentials to keep on hand and to dry jackets, there are pockets on the outside of the backpack, including ones for water bottles, a large quick-access pocket on the back and an external pocket for hydration. They are all made of water-repellent and breathable materials.
Downburst is made to meet the needs of hikers who enjoy all-weather exploration and for those looking for a comfortable and spacious backpack. In addition, this model features a Stow-on-the-Go attachment for trekking poles and an external tank pocket. The sustainable design uses bluesign certified fabrics and PFAS-free Durable Water Repellent (DWR) treatments.
