Osprey publishes an open letter to the outdoor community

In response to the global crisis of this moment and in anticipation of a new chapter, Osprey today publishes an open letter to its Outdoor Community and its sales partners through all its channels.

The open letter underlines Osprey’s solidarity with outdoor enthusiasts around the world and indicates its core values. It also precedes the launch of a support package to selected retailers in order to support their sales activities also through Osprey’s digital channels. The broader support package will also include initiatives such as discounts for the Blue Light emergency service, PPE masks produced by Osprey Packs in Colorado and the promotion of physical and mental health campaigns through Osprey channels.

Here is the letter:

Dear friends,
there’s no doubt about it, we’re facing an unprecedented situation. Our world has changed, it’s different. The effects of this situation could affect every activity and individual on the planet and we do not know when this will end. This is a crisis of global proportions. Activities are not proceeding as usual.
We at Osprey want to show empathy through our solidarity and community, trying to inspire others to achieve more and more. These few guiding principles will help us navigate these new seas. “Moulded in the wilderness” we miss it very much. It is really important for us to show how much we care about what we are all facing. This is an opportunity to support each other.
Let’s not speculate about when this period will end. But let us prepare for a thoughtful and proactive transition. Thinking every day about what the new world that awaits us could be like and moving in that direction. We’ll be NEW free.
Until then we ask you to shop smart, better and closer to home. Not necessarily from us, but from your trusted retailers. We need to keep the engine running so that everyone can continue to make a living. It’s an inconvenient truth but it’s the hard reality.
Are we ready for what awaits us? The world has faced crises in the past and together we will overcome that too. Stay safe, stay close to home and think of others first.
Nature is waiting for us there.

Sincerely,

The Osprey team
